A Suggestion
This was a piece submitted the the original dead tree version of The Resister.
LET'S MAKE A DEAL?
After months (or more likely years) of fighting, the beltway brigands declare that they are seeking a negotiated settlement to the Second Civil War. After they make the usual noises about "power sharing" arrangements, etc., etc., the head of our delegation answers thus:
In effect, the enemy is offered conditional amnesty.
The point in favor of such a deal is that we cut our own losses in blood
and treasure.
The points against are, firstly, while the deal is expedient, it is fundamentally unjust. The individuals responsible for the subjugation and slaughter of American citizens (the Waco massacre, etc.) are basically getting away scot-free.
The second point against it is that it is contrary to the nature of the beast we are facing. Although the deal allows the enemy to take their loot with them, plunder (on the part of the leadership) was not their primary goal, unrestrained power over us is. The apparent governing principle of (to name an example) Clinton's behavior in public office is L'Etat cest Moi, literally; "The State, that's Me". The leader is held to be synonymous with the state, opposition to malfeasance on the part of the leader is treated as anti-government hatred, in effect as nothing less than treason. Clinton's consistent answer to criticism of his actions has been to defame his victim's and his critics, and to demand silence and obedience regardless of the consequences to his subjects.
The statist leader refuses to be subject to any legal restraints, nor does he pay heed to any superior authority. His victims, those persons who are to be subjected to his whims must be silenced and disarmed. This is nothing new, the military arm, be it a sword, a pike or a firearm, is the symbol and instrument of political authority. The citizens of a free nation, armed and
ready to defend their lives and liberties, have a commanding voice, which a politician may ignore only at his peril. Augustus Caesar understood this when he depoliticized the citizen body of the Roman Republic by replacing the citizen militia based army of the republic with a mercenary force loyal to himself.
If presented with a "take the money and run" deal, a power addict would very likely refuse to accept. I would not be surprised if Bill Clinton, following the example of such statist trash as Adolf Hitler and Salvador Allende, ultimately ends up taking the final exit while cowering in a final redoubt.
As much as each of us may prefer otherwise, the coming struggle is certain to be a long, bloody, fight to the death.

This still applies to the current occupant of the White House.

What we want from you Bill is this; You and your underlings will formally resign from office , you will surrender all claims of authority over the citizens and territory of the United States, you will go into exile, and under no circumstances will you establish or support the establishment of a quote, government in exile, close quote.
You and your followers will take your offshore bank ATM cards and go. And please take the First Bitch with you.

Munich II
I could start out by quoting George Santayana, but those of us who actually perceive and think already know the statement.
History is being repeated and we are condemned to witness it.
The fundamental problem with Barack Obama and those who aid and support him is that they see themselves as exempt from the reality that we perceive and understand. The history of errors made by the Progressive movement is absolutely meaningless to them. The wave of destruction and the death toll is completely blanked out.
Because of his deliberate inattention to history the sitting president had decided to repeat one of the greatest blunders of the last century. The Munich Agreement of 1938 allowed a totalitarian state to proceed with their program of empowerment and aggression. This in turn would lead to the most devastating war in recorded history. The current agreement with Iran will allow the Iranian state to construct nuclear weapons and use them in their program of aggression. This in turn will result in a far more devastating world war fought with chemical and nuclear weapons.
And there may not be someone left alive to record the history.

A Quote
Sarah Palin said on the subject of the Obamacare bill:
Mrs. Palin is absolutely correct. Of course our unofficial Reich-ministry of Culture proceeded to denounce Mrs. Palin as a liar.
But the fact of the matter is that leftists see people as something to be used. And if a person is unusable, why keep them alive?
In a truly free society the truly generous would step in to help. But in the nightmare of socialism, where all resources are under the control of the state, only the rulers and those who can be used matter.

The America I know and love is not one in which my parents or my baby with Down Syndrome will have to stand in front of Obama's 'death panel' so his bureaucrats can decide, based on a subjective judgment of their 'level of productivity in society,' whether they are worthy of health care. Such a system is downright evil.

An Open Message To Barack Obama
I have a message for Barack Obama the fool who is visibly upset at the fact that we won't blindly submit to his whims.
Get over it.
Sure, you claimed to won two presidential elections by a majority of the votes cast. (After all, you are a Illinois Democrat)
So what?
An election in a constitutional republic is a process of hiring someone to perform a constitutionally defined task. It is not a mystical collectivist ritual for the anointment of a stone age god-king. We do not believe in The Leader Principle. We do not believe that the stone age god-king that you have become is in any way the embodiment of a collective will. And we certainly do not believe that we are in any way subject to what is in fact your personal whim. We are not and never will be a living prop in your ideological fantasy. We will not bind ourselves with the chains that you offer us. And we will never embark on the path that always leads to the anonymous ditch outside of a town.
What you are is a believer in what Ayn Rand used to call the Primacy of Consciousness, a belief that reality is not inherently real but is in some way alterable by a ruling consciousness. In your case, the Collective, which in many versions of Socialist doctrine has a distinct consciousness of its own. Some Leftists have gone as far as to claim that the individual perception of actual reality, which invariably contradicts the doctrines of the collectivists, is a form of false consciousness.
This explains why the Left has made the effort to gain control of the Mainstream Media, and why they insist on "shaping opinion" instead of simply reporting the facts. Your supporters in the media are through the deliberate issuance of falsehoods trying to alter reality. But reality is inherently real. Facts are facts. Or to put it in the simplest terms: A is A.
The number of votes you received (or in the Chicago system, claimed to received) doesn't change the fact that you are wrong. Might (or in the Chicago system, the appearance of might) is not right.
You are about to learn in the worst way that reality is not subject to a majority vote.
What are your questions on this block of instruction?

Observation
The lives of good Americans will be sacrificed in the fictional nation of Syria so that President Barack Obama can pretend to be a savior.
President Obama is intervening the local equivalent of a street fight between the Sturmabteilung and the Schutzstaffel. This is full altruism. This does not serve any rational national interest. And this is an absolutely useless act.
May we have a Coup D'Etat in the United States please?

Seeing The Fnords
Normally I would post something like this on my primary blog but I'm to whine, moan, and groan about the taxicab business over there instead. Also I would not use a reference to The Illuminatus Trilogy on a basically Objectivist blog but I just got up and I feel a little bit frisky this morning.
Once upon a time ago, in a bit of a disagreement, I told the editor of the original dead tree version of The Resister that we as real intellectuals didn't actually have to dehumanize the members of The Left. My view at the time was that the partisans of The Left have chosen to dehumanize themselves, and all we actually had to do as real reporters was to observe them, and accurately report we see and hear.
In a case in point our good friend Mark Urbin posted a link to a post on Talk Straight in order to illuminate "the violence inherent in the socialist system."
(Thus also providing us with our daily Monty Python reference requirement for the day as well)
Apparently some self styled intellectual over at that cognitive cesspit commonly known as the Village Voice is openly calling for the murder and plunder of some really rich people. All in the name of the workers, which in what passes for the mind of this individual also includes folks who claim to be artists.
Here's the screen shot of the cognitive emission:

Apparently one hundred and ten million deaths in the cause of an invalid concept is simply not enough for some people.
As usual a self appointed voice of the toilers feels that wealth, the product of someone's thought and labor, belongs not to the persons who created it, but to some manifestation of the collective as a whole, and then they go into some kind of hissy fit when the people who actually created it are allowed to keep some of it. How dare a government actually act like a government!
When someone has something the self appointed guardians want to grab, they'll simply proclaim that desired object was unearned by the rightful owner, or was otherwise stolen and grab it. And they'll do it over the rightful owner's dead body if they have to.
Given sufficient time and motivation they will, if they are consistently acting in accordance to their own theory, even attack the bums who are begging at the roadside for the loose change in their pockets. After all, they didn't earn that paltry sum of money either.
Mark also points out that when one scratches a self proclaimed liberal one will find the fascist underneath.
Well, yes.
Il Duce, the original Fascist, used to be a leading socialist intellectual and even received fan mail from Lenin.
The fact of the matter is that the ideologies of Socialism, Fascism, et al, are nothing more than an attempt to give the appearance of legitimacy to old school savagery, which is basically the old stone age practice of beating up other people and taking their stuff.
Nowadays, whenever I see a "progressive" sign in on a front lawn or a bumper sticker on a car I think, "murderer."
After all, how else are they going to do it?
